Description: Category 12 includes species that eat fleshy fruiting bodies, perhaps some seeds, the fleshy storage roots of certain plants, and also some green leafy material. These species tend to eat plant parts that are not readily digestible by the normal enzymes in mammalian tissues; fully utilizing the structural carbohydrate of the green leafy substances may require assists from microbial enzymatic systems.
